Stuffed Cabbage Casserole

Description

Stuffed Cabbage Casserole

Ingredients:

1 medium head of cabbage, shredded

500g ground beef or lamb

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cups cooked rice

3 cups tomato sauce

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese

Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions:

1. Cook the Beef Mixture:

In a skillet, sauté the onion until softened
.

Add the ground beef, season with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper, and cook until browned
.

Stir in the cooked rice and 1 cup of tomato sauce, then remove from heat
.

2. Prepare the Cabbage:

In a pot of boiling water, blanch the shredded cabbage for 5 minutes, then drain well
.

3. Assemble the Casserole:

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C)
.

In a greased casserole dish, layer half of the cabbage, followed by the beef mixture, and top with the remaining cabbage.

Pour the remaining tomato sauce over the top and spread evenly.

4. Bake:

Cover the casserole with foil and bake for 30 minutes
.

Remove the foil, sprinkle the cheese over the top, and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly
.

5. Serve:

Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm
.
