Description
Steak and Caramelized Onion Crostini
Ingredients:
1 baguette, sliced into ½-inch thick slices
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 lb steak (ribeye or sirloin), cooked to your preference and thinly sliced
2 large onions, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 teaspoon sugar
1 cup shredded Gruyère or mozzarella cheese
Salt and black pepper to taste
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Baguette: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet. Brush each slice lightly with olive oil. Toast in the oven for 5-7 minutes, or until golden.
2. Caramelize the Onions: In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for 15-20 minutes, until golden and caramelized. Sprinkle with sugar for added sweetness, and season with a pinch of salt.
3. Assemble the Crostini: Top each toasted baguette slice with a piece of steak, a generous amount of caramelized onions, and shredded cheese.
4. Melt the Cheese: Return the assembled crostini to the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
5. Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve warm as an appetizer or snack.
