
Description
This hearty cabbage soup with chicken, pork and lots of vegetables is a simple one pot meal. Great comfort food for a cold winter evening.

Ingredients
16ouncesboneless skinless chicken breasts
1poundcountry style pork ribs, boneless
2bay leaves
1largechicken bouillon, such as Knorr
1/4teaspooncumin
8cupswater
1mediumhead cabbage, chopped (about 9 cups)
3mediumcarrots, chopped
2largeleeks, chopped (whites only)
2clovesgarlic
1yellow pepper, chopped
1.5ozbrandy, omit if you don’t drink alcohol
3/4teaspoonkosher salt, and black pepper, to taste
1/2teaspoonSazon, or turmeric, optional for color
Instructions
Chop meat into small chunks.
- In a large pot, combine chicken, pork, water and bouillon, bay leaves and cumin and bring to a boil, then simmer about 15 minutes on medium heat.
- Add the vegetables and remaining ingredients.
- Reduce to low, cover and simmer for about 45 minutes.
