Caramel Apple Bundt Cake
Ingredients:
For the Cake:
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
3 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup buttermilk
2 cups peeled and diced apples
For the Caramel Sauce:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup heavy cream
A pinch of salt
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour a Bundt pan.
Prepare the Batter:
In a bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter, oil, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
Gradually add the dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
Fold in the diced apples.
Bake the Cake:
Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan. Smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Make the Caramel Sauce:
In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar and cream. Bring to a boil and cook for 2-3 minutes until thickened. Add a pinch of salt.
Assemble:
Drizzle the warm caramel sauce over the cooled cake, letting it cascade down the sides.
